In between the studio terrace and the black greenhouse sits my little secret garden. A small area where I have pots of my favorite herbs and plants. It’s situated right by the studio’s door too so I can keep a close eye on things.
Last year, Bruce made a large raised bed in this section. I use it to propagate roses and plant my fig tree which used to be kept indoors over winter. Surprisingly, the fig made it through the 2019 winter. Plants that need a little extra attention I stick back here as a makeshift hospital er room. Not ready for full public viewing or ones that are in the ICU. The secret garden is sheltered from direct sunlight and our harsh winds making it a perfect respite for the injured. I also have a bit of herbs in here to grab at the end of the day for dinner. Not only that but it adds a wave of splendid scent to the air. I’m training a clematis to climb up the back of the greenhouse as well. A little bit of dappled shade will be a nice reprieve in the summer days when it’s normally 120 in the greenhouse by mid day.
Hopefully, this summer I’ll finish painting the floor and box.
