The winter was arctic like in Western New York. Bone Chilling, Icy, Snowy never ending cold. The ice on the pond never saw a thaw this winter. When spring came my parents had a big mess with their pond. All of the fish died… ALL OF THEM! Wilbur gone! Almost 20 years of fish dead. It’s called the Winter Kill when the pond sees reduced oxygen and an increase of methane gas.
My dad has been working hard on getting the pond restocked over at Rancho Coffin. I was about ready to rename it Tadpole Heaven. There are millions of tadpoles and big green frogs living life large over at the pond.
Thursday, I got a call to come on down to meet the fish guy from Whispering Pines Fish Farm. A break in the day to see a pond get restocked… why yes sign me up! The joys of living three houses up from my parents I get to see all the new pet fish.
A first for us… Crayfish.
Minnows for the bigger fish to chomp on… wait!, No! …eat the tadpoles first please Mr. Bass.
Lots of new Koi to watch. Here’s Crush the II. There’s a pretty bluish color one too.
My mom posing on fish day 🙂
Lots of Catfish!! They’re my fav. We only had a couple before. They get super big!
Welcome to your new home!
