An update for 2020… Bruce sports a fitbit versa now and I have a fitbit Charge3 now…
This Christmas my present request was health. Bruce and I are super busy and everything gets in our way of healthy living. Working at a computer and meeting deadline after deadline does not lead to the healthiest of lifestyles. I’m still recovering from a leg injury from a year and a half ago. My leg swells but not as bad as it used to and most of the pain has subsided so it was time to get back on track. I’m not saying a diet because that’s a dirty word isn’t it. Yuck!, no one wants to be on a diet and basically it means that you’re setting yourself up for a fail… because one day you won’t be on a diet right? That’s not what I was looking for… I need a constant reminder of how many calories I have left and how much I need to move to make my goal of steps for the day. If I want a cheeseburger then I need to know how much of that cheeseburger I can have and what I have to do to work for it.
So, for Christmas Bruce got us the Fit Bit Forces. Goal for January 5000 steps a day. Increasing a 1000 steps a month so my leg gets used to all this extra exercise until we hit that 10,000 mark. And for all you who do 10,000 steps a day kudos to you. I take 2-3 walks a day and try and walk and talk every time I have a call in the office and I still have a hard time reaching my mark.
The other benefit of the Fit Bit Force is the sleep feature. Now I knew I did not sleep well but the fit bit just reconfirms the classic argument in the house. One of us sleeps and one of us doesn’t. Bruce is like a comatose patient. He sleeps through the night. Me… I’m up around 4 times a night and am restless 18 times a night. Basically, I think I’m preparing to be a vampire and not sleep at all. The wristband syncs with our iphone and gives you these lovely charts and tells your sleep efficiency. My highest sleep efficiency is 72%. Bruce every night is in the 90%. No wonder he’s so personable and friendly.
A new adventure awaits with new recipes and more exercise in 2014. Get ready skinny jeans you are in my closet and you shall be mine. I’m 7.6 pounds down since we got them. And yes that .6 pounds does count because I only lost .4 pounds this week. I think my body will revolt this week!
Here are some yummy recipes we’ve tried this week… and come aboard and try a fit bit force.
Bruce found this over at Justina Blakeney: Avocado & Egg Breakfast Pizza
